CEEPUS scholarships are adjusted to the needs and living conditions in a particular country of academic exchange and they cover room and board, as well as a monthly stipend.
CEEPUS is an acronym for the “Central European Exchange Program for University Studies”. It is an academic exchange programme for students and teachers from Central Europe based on multilateral cooperation agreements in the fields of education and research. The main CEEPUS activity is based on university networks operating joint programmes, ideally leading to joint degrees.
The main objectives of CEEPUS are to contribute to merging the European Higher Education Area and European Research Area by promoting inter-university cooperation and mobility in the framework of EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).
Member countries and Croatian CEEPUS partners
Current member countries of CEEPUS are:
Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia. Prishtina/Kosovo is also participating.
Within the CEEPUS programme, scholarships are available for teachers and two categories of students: semestral students (minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 10 months in one cycle) and doctoral students who are working on their thesis (stays shorter than 3 months are allowed).
There are two general types of mobility: mobility inside CEEPUS networks (network mobility) and mobility outside CEEPUS networks (freemovers). CEEPUS is based on CEEPUS networks that consist of a minimum of three participating units. Scholarships and living arrangements
CEEPUS scholarships are comprehensive grants which cover the cost of living, housing and basic medical insurance and they are adjusted to the needs and living conditions in a particular country.. Additionally, CEEPUS grantees do not pay tuition fees.
The national CEEPUS office of the host country organizes the payment of the monthly stipend, as well as all other benefits that grant-holders are entitled to, while the host higher education institution is in charge of realisation of the programme’s educational goals.
CEEPUS applications
The CEEPUS Scholarship Application Form for individual scholarships should be filled in and sent electronically at www.ceepus.info. In order to fill in the application the users must be registered on the website.
Application deadlines for CEEPUS are the following:
- June 15 for the winter semester for network mobilities
- October 31 for the summer semester for network mobilities
- November 30 for the summer semester for freemovers
